Stay There: A Cool Brushed Display Font for Creative Projects

It was a quiet afternoon, the kind where your brand board feels like it’s waiting for the right spark. I opened a fresh canvas, ready to test a new font for a boutique skincare brand I was working on. That’s when I found Stay There. The moment I applied it to the logo draft, something clicked—like the perfect brushstroke in a watercolor painting.

Stay There is a cool brushed display font that immediately brings a sense of modernity and approachability. Its soft, fluid strokes mimic the natural flow of a hand-brushed design, giving it an organic, almost artisanal feel. It’s not overly dramatic or too minimalist—it finds a balance between playfulness and professionalism. This makes it incredibly versatile for a wide range of creative applications.

A Natural Fit for Branding and Packaging

I tested Stay There across multiple elements of the skincare brand’s identity: from the logo concept to the packaging mockup. On the logo, it felt just right—clean enough to be legible but with enough character to stand out. When placed on a product label, it added a touch of warmth without overwhelming the design.

The font performed well on a business card as well. Paired with a clean sans serif for body text, it created a visual hierarchy that guided the eye naturally. It also worked surprisingly well on a website header, where its slightly textured appearance gave the site a more tactile, human feel.

On social media, Stay There shone in Instagram posts and promotional graphics. Its subtle variation in stroke width made each letter feel unique, adding visual interest without sacrificing readability. Even in smaller sizes, it maintained its clarity, which is rare for a display font.

When to Use Stay There and When to Avoid It

Stay There excels as a display font, headline font, or short phrase font. It’s ideal for logos, brand boards, packaging labels, and any project where you want to add a touch of personality. However, it’s not the best choice for long body text or small-scale print where legibility is key. In formal corporate settings, its casual tone might not align with the desired brand voice.

If you’re designing for a handmade shop, a creative studio, or a local café, this font can help create a warm and inviting aesthetic. But if your project requires strict typographic consistency or a very formal tone, consider pairing it with a more structured typeface.

Font Pairing and Practical Tips

For a balanced look, I paired Stay There with a clean sans serif font like Montserrat or Lato. This combination provided contrast while maintaining harmony. For a more elegant feel, a light serif like Playfair Display worked beautifully alongside it, especially in editorial design or packaging mockups.

When testing Stay There, I always recommend trying it in different weights and styles, if available. Check for alternates, ligatures, or swashes that could enhance your design. Also, ensure that the font supports the languages you need and is available in webfont format if you're using it online.

Before committing to Stay There for client work, always review the commercial licensing terms. Make sure it's appropriate for use in brand identity, templates, merchandise, websites, or print-on-demand products. Some fonts have restrictions that could limit their application in certain contexts.

Final Notes on Creativity and Consistency

Stay There isn’t just a font—it’s a creative tool that adds depth and emotion to your designs. Whether you're crafting a logo, refreshing a café’s branding, or designing a product label, it offers a unique way to express your brand’s personality.

As a designer, I’ve come to appreciate how much a single typeface can influence brand perception. Stay There does this subtly, making it a great addition to any designer’s toolkit. Just remember to use it thoughtfully, ensuring it complements rather than overwhelms your overall design language.
