Squidy Club: A Modern Display Font for Web Design

As a web designer, I'm always on the lookout for typefaces that bring personality to digital spaces without sacrificing readability. Recently, I had the chance to test Squidy Club in a few real-world web design scenarios—and it’s been a delightful addition to my toolkit.

Squidy Club is a fun display font with a fresh modern style. It has a playful yet professional vibe that makes it perfect for websites that want to stand out while still feeling approachable. The font's clean lines and subtle curves give it a versatile character that works well across different design contexts.

Testing Squidy Club in a Hero Section

I first used Squidy Club on a hero section for a boutique online store. The goal was to create a bold headline that would grab attention without overwhelming the viewer. When I applied Squidy Club to the main title, it instantly added a sense of energy and creativity to the layout.

The font’s modern typography worked beautifully over a full-width image banner. It didn’t clash with the background, and its legibility was clear even at larger sizes. I found that it performed especially well when paired with a clean sans serif font like Montserrat for body text. This font pairing created a nice balance between playfulness and professionalism.

One thing I noticed was how well Squidy Club scaled on mobile devices. Even when the screen size got smaller, the font remained readable and maintained its visual impact. That’s a big plus for any website aiming to be responsive and user-friendly.

Using Squidy Club for Call-to-Action Buttons

Next, I experimented with using Squidy Club for call-to-action (CTA) buttons on a course sales page. These buttons needed to be eye-catching but not distracting. I tested a few variations and found that Squidy Club added just the right amount of flair to the CTA copy.

It worked particularly well when used in short phrases or single words, like “Enroll Now” or “Start Today.” The font’s unique letterforms helped these buttons stand out against the background without making them feel too ornate. For longer buttons or more complex messages, I’d recommend sticking to a simpler typeface, though.

Another consideration when using Squidy Club for buttons is ensuring there’s enough contrast between the text and the button background. On light backgrounds, the font looked crisp and clear. On dark backgrounds, I had to adjust the color slightly to maintain readability.

Squidy Club in Branding and Logo Design

I also used Squidy Club in a logo concept for a creative brand. The font’s modern style gave the logo a fresh, youthful look that aligned perfectly with the brand’s identity. It was easy to integrate into the overall design, and the typeface felt cohesive with other brand elements like icons and color schemes.

For branding purposes, I recommend checking if the font includes any alternates or ligatures that could enhance the logo design. In this case, Squidy Club offered a few stylistic options that allowed me to fine-tune the look of the logo without compromising its clarity.

When using Squidy Club for logos, I made sure to consider the scalability of the font. It held up well at different sizes, from small favicons to large banners. That flexibility made it a great choice for multi-platform branding efforts.

What Works Well with Squidy Club?

Squidy Club shines in situations where you need a display font that adds character without being too flashy. It’s ideal for headlines, subheadings, and decorative accents. However, it may not be the best choice for long paragraphs or dense blocks of text due to its stylized nature.

If you're using Squidy Club on your website, make sure to pair it with a complementary serif font or sans serif font for body copy. This ensures a good balance between readability and visual interest. I often use it alongside Roboto or Lato for a clean, modern look.

Also, before implementing Squidy Club on a live site, check that it supports all necessary characters and languages. For commercial projects, confirm that the font comes with proper commercial font licensing so you can use it confidently on client websites, landing pages, and other digital assets.

Finally, keep an eye on file formats and webfont availability. Ensuring that the font loads quickly is essential for maintaining a smooth user experience, especially on mobile devices.
